I'm desperate for a 16v anniversary, 3 door in preferably red if not then black then silver
-
Red will fade and will require a respray. The best colour to get an anni in is mystic blue

red can be brought back to life far easier!
-
Still a gash colour
-
In other words get a metallic not solid
-
I just really want a 3 door 16v. I'd have any colour just not mystic blue as I don't think blue goes well with the black bumpers. Plus it'll be a show car anyway, and I'm a detailer so I can restore the red paint whenever I need.
-
You will be mopping panels on the cwr and before you know there is no red left to mop
mystic blue is OMG in the sunlight..
-
I agree. Plus mystic blue goes well with black bumpers, blends amazingly
-
You wouldn't wear a navy jumper with black trousers would you...
-
Annis are over rated, dragon green 16v is where it's at ;)

Of course you would! Lol

Have you ever wondered what to wear with navy? While the obvious white, cream, khaki, navy and BLACK are good color choices a pale pink or yellow shirt or sweater works well. Royal and marine blue, the nearest shades to navy, will work well too if you put a light piece of fabric with the outf

At the end of the day I want a 16v 3 door
Guess UK is the land of 16v ABF so that wouldnt be a problem? In Sweden there are 249 registered Mk3 GTI 16v

A good 16v with no rust are very hard to come by these days especially 3 door
-
Don't care if it's a rust bucket I just need one
-
A good 16v with no rust are very hard to come by these days especially 3 door
Got mine with 60k genuine for £850, it can be done :) took ages of searching though!
-
I've been to the back of the Internet and can't find one! I found a red 3 door in Aberdeen (where I live) so stuck a note on his window but no reply
-
What you going to do with your Anni?

That is good. Spent thousands on mine looks immaculate now. Treating it to a Vibra Technic front engine mount in two weeks
-
I'm gonna restore it back to the way it was out the show room. I have a minted silver 8v anni that I use as a daily just now

Silver looks  on mk3s

Here's the full thread on Edition mate: http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=510620&page=5 I was looking for ages for the right one and the history is amazing and huge especially with it been featured on "clarksons heaven and hell" DVD which is with it too and its along side with a mk2 and a mk4!!! My price now I'm unsure if to sell or not as I've been craving for either a TT or Boxster? Friends of mine who are all dubbers have said that they have seen ones at shows and they aren't as good as this!!! Here's a few more pics for ya:

The previous reg on my car was VIW6166 and was put on its original before I bought it but here's proof of it sitting on the top gear track from the VW golf feature:
(http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b607/spikey120585/i077528_zpsf962c1eb.jpg) (http://s1294.photobucket.com/user/spikey120585/media/i077528_zpsf962c1eb.jpg.html)
Proof of the reg change:

And a previous receipt from stealth racing with VIW6166 on it and this reg is on half of my mot certificates which ties in with the chassis number and receipts too:

Now price!! If I didnt get 3k for it i'd keep it. The car is always garaged and only used at weekends and I'm in no rush too sell because there isn't many 16v left and especially like this.
Thanks Steve

Bonnet stay is missing, give you £500 for it
Nice car
-
That's lovely mate :)
If you get rid of that to buy a tt or a boxter you will have to surrender your manhood and wear a girl thingy though
-
I'll give you 3k for it
-
I see what you did there admin ;)
-
I'll give you 3k for it
Your mad, Spikey snap his hand off!
-
Not enough? Or to high? Haha
-
Dont get me wrong its a lovely car but £3k? Be interesting to see what is under all that plastic trim.
-
If pay 3k for it even if it had a hole in the floor like the flintstones
-
Let's be serious here. You have a bun in the oven or maybe it's already been born. I want your car badly. Been wanting a red 16v since I was 10 years old and I'm stuck with a minted silver 8v anni. Although I love me car I will never be 100% happy unless it's a red 16v. I'll give you £3000 for it. Or name your price
-

All plastic trims have been off buddy and there is NO hidden nastys!!! Its Absolutely solid underneather and there is a wallet full of receipts with 2 handbook folders with original bill of sale for just under £19k. Its always been owned by enthusiasts / Club GTI members.
Thanks
-
Well sell it to me and it'll be in good hands lol
-

lol. let me have a think on it today buddy and ill let you know tonight

Legend! If only my anni was a 5 door we could part exchange plus cash!
-
its a tough decision Steve...great looking car and well loved car that i can vouch for.
£3.5k would be my asking price if he wants it that bad...remember you have to find something else thats as good!
-

Part Exchange lol
5 door?? I dont need a 5 door lol?
I'm unsure what to go for next is my problem lol, I work for VW / AUDI / SKODA / SEAT for the last 10 years and have had MK3's before and i know these a getting rarer by the day. i have major ocd with my cars so as you can see its looked after and have had alot spent on it like:
- Bonnet Lifters
- 6R Polo Aerial Mast
- VW Wheel Nut Covers
- VW Alloy Wheel Centre Caps
- Front Bumper Smoked Indicators
- Front Bumper Smoked Reflectors
- Front Bumper Smoked Fogs
- Smoked Wing Repeaters
- Number Plate Lamps
- Black Genuine Badges Front & Back
- 16V Grille Badge
- Satin Black Grille Slats
- GTI Valve Caps
- Headlights
- Battery
- Tailored Rubber Mats
- Aerial Base Gasket
- Pioneer Headunit
- Lowered 50mm Inc FK Lowering Caps
- Powersteering Pipes Made By Pirtek
- New side skirt trims
- New AutoElectro alternator purchased (2 year warranty) with Gates V-Belt and Power Steering belt
- Whole car waxed using Poorboys Natty's Paste
- Brand new rear screen been fitted due to wiper scratches which really annoyed me lol
- Oil Cooler & Gaskets & Pipes, Oil Filter Housing Gaskets, Oil Seperator Gasket, Cylinder Head Water Flange, Oil Pressure Sensors, Coolant Flushed And Replaced With G12, Oil Castrol Magnatec 5/40 Used & Filter Change!!! Alot of these parts werent needed but seen as work was been done in that area might as well have all new lol.
I bought it to nearly concours but still driveable, it hasnt seen dirt since my ownership put it that way!!!
It still needs a few things doin in my eyes but detailed things like:
- Repaint the calipers to freshen them up
- Fit my 5mm spacers on the back
- BBS Centre Caps
- I Also have the original red grille slats too if wanted to change back
- Paint the inside of the headlight surrounds black to match the grille and the others all round
- Take all wheels off and fully was insides
ETC
Thanks Steve

I'm major OCD with my cars too, and everything you've done to yours is what I would have done to it (except the head unit) I just want one so bad, it's my dream car and has been for a very long time. I thought I would be happy with the 8v but it only took a matter of months before my 16v obsession came back.
Although I've not had my 8v for long I've done a few bits here and there that are quite OCD. Tell you what, when I get home tonight I'll put up a post of my car so you can have a look, it's not as nice as yours but part exchange plus 1k?
-

1 question. Is it your dream car?

Thanks for the offer but 8v wouldnt cut it for me either as this was a 8 month search lol so it would have to be cash only. my next move would either be a MK2 16V in atlas grey, Audi TT 225, Ibiza Cupra 2001 shape, 3.2S Boxster :undecided:
Thanks.
-
1 question. Is it your dream car?
lol, My dream car is somethin porsche (996 ) but would settle for a boxster 3.2s to work my way upto that level. soft spot for a MK2 16V 90 spec 3dr in atlas grey is what i use to look upto when i was little as it was what my dad was into.
-
Well your car is my dream car so you could make someone's dreams come true haha you should always go for the car that you looked up as a little boy. All my mates laugh about me with mk3's and 16v anni's especially, I just remember going car shopping my my mum as a little boy and seeing a red 16v in the showroom (wasn't an anni tho but still) she ended up buying an escort
-
I just realized i was 19, -96 :D What i remember MK3 was just like a Golf 7 is today meaning: just a car.
-
I'd say 3k is a ok price for your car spikey.
I was offered 3200 for mine and I couldn't bring myself to part with it.....
Mk3s are starting to rise in price as good ones are getting thin on the ground.

Thanks steve.
-
have to say agreed that good 16v's are hard to find..
Mine needs sills welded and some touching up on passenger floorpan.. and the bottom of the arches where they meet the sills too..
the whole rest of the underside is completely clean.
I consider myself very lucky to only have those bits needing attention!!!
..also I only paid 400 for my 16v  mystic blue too
