Title: Installing a new interior?
Post by: general_piffle on 24 July 2014, 22:59
Hi, I've managed to get hold of a really nice leather interior (seats and door cards) for my 5 door GTI 16v. Can anyone give me any advice on taking the old interior out and fitting the new one? I literally don't know where to start...

Never done it before and don't want to feck it up! Thanks :)

It's really easy mate - I was the same before I got stuck in -

The front seats have a pin locking them in at the front and a plastic rail at the back that both need to be removed then they simply slide out when you push them right back

For the rears you just need and allen Key

there are some how to do it guides knocking around somewhere

Later interiors have different door handle set up, I got a complete set and they did not fit
Could have sodded around to make them fit but lucked out and got another set and a swap
Just make sure you take all the screws out before pulling on them too hard
Also may be worth getting some plastic sheeting and duct tape ready in case the membranes are damaged.

Mine is a 1994 and the door-cards are from a 1996 I think. Should be OK?
