Title: Electric window problem
Post by: chrisk on 09 September 2005, 14:10
My drivers side electric window is not working, unfortunately it's stuck in the up position. I stripped the panel back but cannot remove it. The only way I can think of doing it is to smash the window, a bit drastic...

My car was in VW and they traced the fault to 'motor and regulator' with a price of £388, so I can't afford to do it that way. Any ideas on how to get the window down ?

When I operate the switch there is a clicking from where the motor is.

You should be able to pull the window down . I dont know if that will mean removing the motor first .

then there are two bolts and some rubber that squeeze together to grasp the window .

I dont seem to be able to get to the rubber clamps and bolts as they are behind the top section of the door. The motor can only be removed from the inside - there are about 8 atar drive screws that you can't get to.

don't remove the motor, remove the whole unit. should be about three or four bolts on the end of the metal things
