Title: Replace wiper blades
Post by: Snooze on 19 July 2014, 13:05
Hi guys, off to buy some new wipers. Does anyone have a guide of how to replace them? I seem to remember there's a method to get the front wipers to stop in the vertical position to aid figment of new blades. Any help would be much appreciated!

Turn the ignition on and press the wiper stalk down once.

You mean turn the ignition on then off, then flick the wiper stalk down. That puts them into the service position. To return them to the normal parked position, turn the ignition on the flick the wiper stalk down. It's all in the handbook.

Ah, but when do you put them back? When the screen is still wet so that they glide, or when the screen is dry so they drag?

I left them like that once on my mk5 in the service position with the arms off the screens all day for a major cleaning sesh. Put them back on the screen and they never cleaned properly ever again. They always missed a portion of the screen down near the bottom. Was like they were off the screen too long and they deformed or something.

Not cheap but Bosch blades are definitely worth the money.  Miles better than other wipers including Valeo ones.
