Title: Air Conditioning fault what next
Post by: bluetobits on 18 July 2014, 13:26
Not prepared to pay main dealership exstortionate rate for plugging a device in - £98 + VAT for a ten minute exercise - joke

Golf mk 4 TDI  way forward change the cheapest part first

Checked all fuses.
Topped up the gas
Air Con still only works on fan speed 1.
Changed the pressure switch - still not working. Spent £50 so still got £70 to play with
What next?

Get an air con specialist to check the system, will be loads cheaper than the main dealer.

is it manual or climate control?

Manual control I believe - all I used to do was press the Air con button in and it would illumuinate and push out very cold air - and stay lit/pushing out very cold air on all four fan speeds - now it normally just does this on fan speed 1 - illumination on button goes out when fan speed selector is moved to fan speed 2,3 or 4 and warm air is delivered.

Although twice last week it illuminated on fan speed 3 and blasted out very cold air - intermitten fault I believe - but what with? - that's the unknown.

Selector switch/push button/thermostat/ compressor/?????
