Title: Finally collected, a couple of questions.
Post by: Jammy1 on 18 July 2014, 08:48
Hi All

Finally collected my GTD yesterday after a 4 month wait.  All is good but I have a couple of questions.

1) The key didn't come with the GTD caps.  The dealer is looking into this but they thought that they are not supplied on more recent build weeks, just a chrome none GTD cap?  Mine was build week 25.

2) Is the sound actuator (the internal 'speaker') still included as standard?  I haven't had much chance to play but I haven't noticed any difference as far as I can tell between modes.

Other than that I'm loving the car, feels great, looks great, rides great (even without the DCC) and got 48mpg in sport on it's first 50 mile mixed road journey with lots of use of ACC

My car is also a build week 25 and came with the GTD caps on the keys, so they are talking bollocks.

The sound actuator on mine is awful, fairly sure it's faulty makes an awful buzz sound between 1,500 and 2,000 rpm, so it must be there as standard!

The wipers are awful and judders as well!!

Other than that it is an amazing car!!!

Thanks for that, I'll give the dealer a few days and then prompt them for the caps.  I'll experiment a little more with the driving modes.  Ideally I'd like everything to sport but the actuator turned off, I can't see an option for that though.

Sound Actuator only works in Sport mode mate, so it'll only make a noise in that mode.

Unfortunately there isn't an option to do that, short of disconnecting the Soundaktor, as the sound it makes is tied to the engine mode - with Eco being the quietest/no sound and Sport being the loudest. There is some sound from the Soundaktor in Normal engine mode (I think)

With all the other customisation within the car setup it would have been nice to have a setting for the Soundaktor.

Soundaktor can be turned off via VCDS. This link might explain more:

Looks like you may have had the Friday afternoon car!

Collected my GTD on Wednesday. Can definitely hear the sound "enhancer" working in sport mode - whether that's good is another matter.

I also had GTD caps on both keys

Have you checked in the manual folder for the key caps? That's where mine were hiding. Still not put them on yet

My bad re the sound actuator, I obviously wasn't trying hard enough yesterday ;)  Just been out now and it is definitely working.  I'm not that keen on it though, so I've gone for everything in sport apart from the engine as a compromise.  No sign of the GTD caps though :(
