Title: Bumper reflectors on the R
Post by: monsta on 15 July 2014, 21:46
Just trying to figure out if the reflectors in the bumper on the rear of the R are tinted darker like the rear lights are?

Since I fitted my R lights it's bothered me how red the reflectors look, trying to figure out if the R ones are darker than the GTI in which case I'll replace them too!

Anyone got a picture of the rear of a real life R (not a VW stand at the motorshow or a press shot) to compare against a GTI photo?

Looking at it it looks like they are the same shade as the lights.

Looking at the picture in this link, not sure they are darker.

Rear reflectors really should be red. Back in the old days when everyone sprayed there rear lights with tint spray, they were supplied with additional red reflectors to ensure that they stayed sort of legal.

There were a few people on here that tinted their reflectors on their Mk6's when they fitted .:R lights. Whilst it looks much better and nobody with any authority would every bother about them, IF the car was hit from behind when parked on the road at night, it might give a bit of wriggle out room for the insurance company.

That's the thing, in one picture they look red but in others they don't.  I wonder if they are slightly darker on newer cars?
