Another little preview from VWR, think I'll be hanging on for this instead of getting the cup intake kit!
Here's a sneak preview for our FB friends only! Our new VWR R600 Cold Air Intake system for Golf 7 is going into production now for deliveries from September.
A complete replacement high-volume airbox, taking cold fresh air from both sides of the front panel, housing a giant TriFoam™ filter rated up to 600bhp.
We've seen gains of over 25bhp from our testing on a Stage 1 Golf 7R. Perfect fit on Golf 7 R and GTI (plus Audi S3, Leon Cupra 280).
More details as we get nearer to launch date. Hope you like it!

Even VWR told me to hang fire for this, was privy to some pics at Inters and looks superb and ITG know a bit about filtration
-
looks sweet but wonder how quiet/loud it is? think i may miss the open cone goodness, any idea on £££?
-
To quote their Facebook page:
"price not announced yet but we think you'll be very pleasantly surprised!"
-
probably using the existing piping like the cup one to keep the cost down. hmmm think my pipercross is safe then, still looks cool tho.
-
Looks really neat and OEM;

Here's a shot of one of our prototype VWR R600 intake systems for Golf 7 GTI/R (and S3, Cupra 280) over in USA. With a filter surface area 100% larger than standard, rated up to 600hp, and cold air being drawn from right across the front panel into a double-volume filter box, this is absolutely going to be the intake to have for higher-powered MQB-platform cars.
First production units will be with us in September.

i think that looks a really nice piece of kit and nicely understated
-
Yeah that looks superb. I'm very interested in this.

25bhp really?

On the R with a stage 1 tune

Oh I like this. If it was available without the R logo, it would look factory.

On their cup intake I've seen pics of it with "Volkswagen Racing" instead of just "R" on.
I'm hoping they do a Volkswagen Racing version of this, would look really neat under the bonnet.

Need to see price and hear sound before I think about swapping, the Apr sounds better than I thought it would tho so maybe this will too

I have to admit I like the look of the carbononio one from APR but I like the VW dealership friendly look of the VWR version!
-
I don't think it's carbononio or whatever they call it, they make a thing of correcting people on fb strangly but I know what you mean, just hoping its not a rip off

The Mk6 was Carbonio, just assumed it would be the same?

I agree and it looks like the same style too, but ive seen it more than once on FB where APR have come back to peoples comments and said this isnt Carbonio this is our own in house development. Maybe cost cutting maybe they nicked enough staff from carbonio to build their own branch lol

Fair enough, at least we don't need to worry about pronouncing it :)
