Title: V5 misfire problem no power under load
Post by: PaulPearson on 05 July 2014, 19:06
Hi chaps. I have a vw golf v5 currently with a misfire on one of the cylinders, 4th so I'm told.

Garage I have taken it to have changed plugs, ht leads, coil pack in order as a process of elimination no thanks to my wallet but still no different

They took it to a vw specialist and he advised that when the coil pack blows it takes other parts out, either the trigger box or the ecu. Is this correct? Been trying to find a trigger box online from their advise but no luck as yet. I know the ecu would be an expensive replacement and they said both are stealer parts :-/

Just wondered if anyone has had the same intermittent fault with misfire or can shed any light/advice?

Cheers in advance

Ecu isnt only dealer part. You can get used one and someone can deimmobilise it for you. I would take it to someone who knows the score

Cheers.

Any idea what a trigger box is? That's the part I've been told to look for 1st and I don't know what it is or does. Can't seem to find anything on the net or eBay
