Title: loosing water
Post by: andc1 on 28 June 2014, 23:21
I'm loosing water our from the coolant tank. Seems to be coming out from the overflow bit. I've replaced the rank but to no effect . It flows out and runs out of water . Any ideas ?

Check all of your connections to the rad. Some times the old hoses perish and crack.

If it's coming from the overflow then its overheating or you are overfilling

Yes it leaks out of the over flow on the tank.

Not that difficult, depending on how involved with cars and mechanical things you like to be. I ought to do a write up as I've replaced mine after I had the head off for a rebuild.

have you taken the top hose off the coolant tank and held it over the filler part and then started the engine, this will show the speed of the water being pumped around the system, and potentially any blockages if there are any.

I would guess yours is getting too hot and then coming out of the overflow, meaning its overheating, could be the water pump is shot but this will show in the above test because the coolant will be moving slowly
