So after a few months of owning my GTI I finally got my hands on a set of genuine GTI / GTD LED rear lights and got them installed this evening and the fault codes taken off so there are no warning or lights on the dash.
I think it is a great little mod and am very pleased with the out come.
Before ... (Please don't shout at me for the bike rack)

Really transform the rear, looking good
I still think they are the best looking rear light cluster of any car
-
You are right, its such a transformation makes it stand out from the sea of standard golfs on the road.
I looked at both smoked and clear and the clear look better against the white I think.
-
I really love how these look on a white golf. Sometimes i really envy those with white ones

+ 1 Yet to see any better clusters on other cars. Agree cherry red rears look great against candy white. Car looks
I like both the smoked and the cherry, but imo smoked suit certain colours better than others, i.e. carbon or steel grey, midnight blue.

Nissan GTR  maybe second best
-
 the best OEM upgrade for the car IMO. Looks nice (including the bike rack )

The GTR lights are nice, but i cant help but see the old style Mondeo rings.... just putting that out there

Haha, thanks, the thing is now I'm looking at upgrading the headlights to xenons as well, just the ££
Only thing holding me back ...
-
Yours look great on white, it was a real plus point when I was looking to purchase mine along with xenons.
-
Very nice indeed  and don't worry about the bike rack I've got one as well I think they look pretty cool with bikes on top of em
-
At least I'm not alone then. Would after market demons spoil it though?

@VWhitehawk
Where did you buy them from and for how much may I ask? Did you install it yourself or have someone do it for you?
I got a 2010 GTI in black but every time I see another golf with rear LEDs it makes me want to upgrade mine!

I got them off the original owner of the car, they are official vw ones, cost me £450. And installed them myself it's a simple job, then just took them to my local VAG specialist and £20 cash took the fault code off.
We'll worth it!

I think this is a great mod, and providing that you buy them at the right price, ultimately is free. There will always be someone who will want to buy them when you sell the car. Providing you have kept your cherry red rears to refit.

I always keep the standard / original parts to put back on the car to then try and make some money back on the mods. But I think I will be keeping this for a while, I can't fault it!

I know what you mean, when I eventually trade mine in I am going to have for sale , Rear LEDs, RNS510, LED Xenons with full AFS, bluetooth and rear reversing camera.
Still have all the originals

The LED xenons are they easy enough to fit, and guessing will just need another decoding?

I love those LED rear lights. I've got to get some of those!! I want the "normal" ones though, not the "smoked". Although they look pretty cool too!
They make the car look really up to date!!
I like the bike rack too...lol!!

Mart

When I bought my GTI the xenons and LED rear lights were on my list too but unfortunately the one I found and eventually bought only had the xenons so I'm still on the hunt for some decent but cheap LED rear lights.
It's carbon grey so I'd be after the smoked ones because I think they suit the car more than the clear but the clear ones look better on the white. If I was into biking I would probably consider a bike rack, it still looks like a beast haha.
If anybody has any or knows of a good place to get some feel free to give me a shout :)

Haha, cheers the rack sorts of gives it a bit more of an edge to it in some way, at least its not for a roof box!

Anyone had any experience with www.xenonz.co.uk? £375 including VAT + delivery for lightly smoked OEM rear lights seems quite good actually.
-
from what I've heard from some friends is that these guys have the best reps going, although their xenons have disgusting blue leds in them which make me

For sure. I know theyre a bit more pricey than the China ones but at least you have the peace of mind knowing they're actually decent quality. I know LED tails are super simple to install, theres a few DIY's on Golfmk6.com if you haven't already done so
