I have recently discovered that i can increase adaptive cruise control by single 1 mph increments by tapping the RES and SET buttons instead of using the +/- buttons which does it in 5mph increments
Probably in the manual, which as a bloke i have no intention of reading
-
Also worked out what this little flap is for inside the boot lid

Thanks for the ACC tip, oh and where is the warning triangle?
-
Its in the red container which is stored in the recess in the boot lid as per the pictures
-
But not everyone has one of them as standard - think it was an extra??
-
Thanks Damo, I had the emergency triangle from a previous lease car
The golf did not come with one as standard which is in my view either cost cutting or optimistic!
I would rather carry it in any case

I've discovered that my GTD only likes to run on part power until fully warmed up, which is slightly annoying as it feels like i'm driving a 2.0TDI 140 not a 184hp torque machine! It can also be deceptive, cos when you go to put your foot down it doesn't respond as expected

I think they all do it – had me convinced that my GTD was only putting out about 160PS as it is noticeably slower than my 170TDI Scirocco when cold.
-
I discovered that if I select nav on the Multi Function Display then select up or down on the steering wheel it gives me the last few destinations to choose from.
Thanks for the ACC tip. I had been increasing the speed by the + - then selecting "Set" to get speeds between 0s and 5s

The thing is monkey, my engine temp can be normal (c.90c) but if the oil temp isn't up to temp (taken from the MFD) then it's still sluggish. Does it still do this with the DTUK box?

Yes it does, but a cold DTUK boxed GTD is still far more responsive than a warm standard GTD. The protection seems overly cautious for a TDI, seeing as diesel fuel in itself is lubricative and modern fully synthetic oils perform well even from cold.

Hi My GTD revs high on idle at times 1000 or even 1100 is this normal ??

Yes, if it is doing a DPF regen.
Car will probably also "smell" and be hot at this time. If you switch the engine off in this period the Radiator fan will also be going full bore for a while.
-
Yup, my fan went on for 15 mins once after the ignition was turned off.

Ive had the GTD for nearly 1 year and have just found out that the centre armrest height is adjustable!
Im a bit slow and this may be obvious to everone else, but new to me
By opening the lid/armrest just a bit there are 3 ratchet positions, opening the lid fully and closing again resests the position to fully closes.
At full height and fully extended it is a much more comfortable position for long motorway driving.
-
Great! I knew it extended, but the height thing was new to me

Maybe mine is also doing this, but changing modes out of sport and then back into sport improves mine. I went from a MK1 Leon FR 150 to the GTD and most of the time feel it's holding back and then occasionally think its a rocket ship.
I'm also in Derby BTW and was reading some of your posts about DTUK Box prior to choosing the GTD.

That's a bug people are talking about on here - if you *start* the car in sport mode, its not in sport mode proper - select another mode, then back to sport and kappow!

I didn't know it even existed until I saw a picture of it on you tube!

main menu - screen option. The it's just off the bottom of the screen. Easily mused.

Some good tips - will need to get the height adjusted on my armrest when it comes!
