Title: Octavia 58" PD170 VRS Questions...
Post by: LittleReDuck on 16 June 2014, 20:21
So I've had an offer that I'm seriously considering which is buying a friends completely stock VRS PD170. Its done 55K had all the injectors and clutch done on warranty 10,000 miles ago and as far as I'm aware has never had a fault or issue.

I've tried a bit of digging but am not finding a great deal as to common faults or tunability.

Does anyone have an experience?
What are the internals good for?
Common mods or tuning ideas?
Anything I should check before I give him some paper and taking the keys?

Remap and DPF delete = hello 200bhp+

Got the same engine in my A3 and its been largely faultless

One common thing to look out for is that the inlet manifolds crack and leak. New on is £500++++  :lipsrsealed:

I've done 53K; 46K of which have been mapped and still running the original clutch and turbo. The above is the only issue I have had engine wise.

This is my main interest. The power and torque figure is wicked and it returns 500 miles out of a tank.
Never owned a Derv but this one has got me thinking.

Have you done anything else to yours Rhyso?

Performance wise its simply a remap, EGR and DPF delete; the rest is all standard hardware although I have replaced the boost pipes too

Here's what its running now

Rest is all cosmetic stuff
