hello all,
okay.. I have a issue with my dsg. I got a 31k Golf mk6 gti, full service history with approved used warranty. It has had all its life with VW.
The issue I got is, jerkyness when hot. I know for a fact my mk6 is not the smoothest of DSGs. Even when cold it just doesnt do very fast gear changes. The problem I have is when I get the gearbox hot it will get worse, it doesnt seem to always do it, but sometimes gets into this real jerky motion, where when you come to the stop the engine nearly stalls and when you let go it spring the clutch out. It feels like its got slow clutch engagement, which comes more apparent when hot.
But evening ragging between you feel its between gears, its just not quick at its gear changes.
I gave it to VW and they just failed to identify any issues and for that reason no issue, no claim...
Are there any differences in the later mechatronic unit? I am feeling this is the fix for my car. Apparently its on the latest software. My car is coming up for a gearbox oil service (31k and its a 59 plate), should I go get this done, I cannot see how this would affect my current issue.

Is it jerky in all modes, i.e Drive, Sport or manual or one in particular.
I have a later dsg (2012) and experience jerkiness, very similar to your description, but only in Sport mode. In Drive or Manual mode there is no such issue, it's very smooth. Have you asked vw if the software update will deal with the problem

it always best to perform a full DSG reset if you start getting any jerkiness at all, you need vag-com to do it, or get complain at VW and get them to do it. It helped a bunch when i had my MK5 DSG.
Also, ask if there is a new flash out for it, as im sure its been updated twice since 2009.

Have you had a DSG oil change done ?
Makes a massive difference to the smoothness of changes, mine was getting a bit jerky recently so I had another oil change done, cannot even feel it change gear now, worth a try

Took my 12 plate GTD for its 96K service 2 weeks ago & they didn't do a DSG oil change as its a sealed unit?? Doing a down change with the paddles is so jerky, it's fine if you floor it 0-60 etc....but most other times it frustrates me. Doubt I'll go for a DSG again.

DSG gearboxes require a filter and oil change every 40000 miles, you should expect to pay no more than£150.
If your car has that many miles without having this done,no wonder your having trouble with it.Take it to another garage and get it done, chances are it will be tons better afterwards.

Software update and oil change will sort it right out.

mines slightly jerky too, on stopping and take off, changing gear its fine, quite quick, but in manual mode it takes ages to respond, could this be software, as a 59 plate, its old and hasn't been serviced at vw but has had an oil change along with filter change once at 42k

If it has not been serviced by VW it may not have had the software upgrade so worth checking this out at a dealership or VW independent specialist.
