Title: Full milltek exhaust de-cat for £325
Post by: lighters on 07 June 2014, 12:22
I have a golf gti 1.8t that is remapped with forge 008p and carbonio cai filter.

What differences will the milltek make and is it reasonable?

What questions should I ask as I have 0 knowledge.

Will I need to remap my car again or will it fit on and work?

No map required, that's a very reasonable price.

It will fit on fairly easily, but don't expect it to be the words easiest job. Your rear bumper (black plastic valance part at the bottom) will need cutting to fit the exhaust tips.

You might notice a slight difference in power, but mainly the noise :D

Sounds good to me, I already have a map on my car so sounds good.

I know someone at kwikfit with ramps etc so shouldnt be a problem fitting.

After a quick read, due to decat I should notice a slight increase in power and quicker turbo spool up so it seems faster / getting power down quicker? If so thats brilliant!

However, I will need to put my cat back in for an MOT or know a tester for this?

Yeah, you will need to know somebody ideally who can turn a blind eye to the cat. Swapping it out every year will be a pain.

Before you fit the decat pipe get someone to weld a cat can over the decat pipe so to the eye it looks like you have one fitted but in reality it is just a straight through pipe - it's what an exhaust builder recommended to me when I enquired about retro fitting a cat to mine
