Title: problem with trying to change Xenon bulbs (D1S)
Post by: candywhite12 on 06 June 2014, 12:33
hi all

this is a bit urgent since I am left with no night lights :(

One of my OEM xenons (philips D1S) has died and i bought a new one from a Philips store (not from a VW dealer since the cost was about double).  When i removed the OEM one, there's a plastic ring fitted around the bulb (i guess that is what securely fits the bulb on the car).

Has anyone managed to remove that and fit it on a replacement bulb?  The silly thing doesn't even move the slightest.

thanks

I can't remember exactly how they come off but they split in two and then hinge apart to remove from the bulb.
