I put a cone filter and a Forge Splitter on a few weeks back. Lost power so took the forge off and correctly put airflow to the cone filter.
Now it's rapid and pulls like never before, but it still sounds like i have the Forge on. A serious dump sound when i let off the Gas.
So my question is, why? Do i have a boost leak or something, or is this normal for the Stock DV to do?

Are you sure you had the forge recirc valve fitted correctly? Because when I first got my car my recirc valve was installed solely as a DV, which resulted in a loss of power until it was installed correctly. Also, which forge valve did you buy? Because they recommend the 007p or the 008 for the vw golf 1.8t

If its a forge split-r you have to install it the reverse way to the standard one.
I got mine set as full recirculate and still gives a good dump, which sounds lot louder after fitted new cold air intake.

when you took it off i assume you put the stadard diverter valve back on?
that will dump the air back into the tip, as you have a cone filter on theres not that far for the sound to travel.
when you have panel filter the noise travels up the tip, into the air box where it is muffled etc therefore not as loud

Yeah it was the Split R. Now its off it still dumps almost as loud.

The S2000 filter is loud, mine does the same. It's nothing to worry about.

they tend to be like that when you go from box to cone.
might actually try it with my TDI and see what happens :D

I like the sound of a diesel when you hear the dv out the exhaust!!!
