Hi all,
I managed to buy a set of 4 genuine 5 stud steelies from a boot sale recently, thinking they were 16" (same diameter as my alloys), but turns out they're 15's. I dont know which model VW they came from but how can I tell if they'll be ok to fit (before I go through the expense of putting rubber on them)!? Are the standard brakes going to be ok behind them?
I thought they'd come in handy when I come to get my Montreal 2's refurbed, or just use them for the winter months. I think they've got a serial number on them but not sure what to do with it lol.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Jack a corner up and put one on your car. :)
Is there a part number stamped on them anywhere?

You'll be ok as long as you have the 288mm fronts

Just make sure they are 5x100 could be from a base spec mk4

All MK4's are 5x100 aren't they?

Yes but the op post did not say they were from a mk4 or indeed which model VW

That is why I suggested checking they are 5x100
