Title: remapped mk7 with dyno run and results
Post by: remlapeel on 04 June 2014, 23:30
Just had my mk7 gti PP remapped by JF automotive down in Kent.  Had a dyno run before and after map was done. Gone from 200WHP to 237WHP.  Should be 1 or 2 higher now I don't have a 9 old filter. Swapped with a pipercross panel filter. Well impressed with power gain, car feels completely different. Absolutely destroyed a corsage VXR up the dual carriageway on the way home. More like overtaking a truck the a hot hatch!  Here is the dyno run video and results.

is this a remap or a tuning box?

Sorry tuning box.

Only downside is the car isn't as smooth as before. A little jerky it places and power all feels like its above 4k. Thinking about an FSR box and see what the difference is!

i think the graph perfectly describes what you are experiencing

Sounds a nice pair of mods remlapeel, but agreed regarding the graph. The DTUK graph looks a much smoother increase over the whole band, looks worth a comparison!

The youtube playlist went on to a C63, damn it has aggressive down shifts!

Yeah the DTUK does look better. Better torque increase as well.  Loving the extra power though. I'll switch it out for a DTUK box and let you all know how they compare

Better torque increase as well.

...and because torque is directly proportional to power, more power too (at those revs).

It sounds from looking at the video and reading your comments, it would seem that there is no doubt that the tuning box is giving you a little more power but its not very smooth... by all accounts, the DTUK box would give you at least as much power increase without the roughness... its not all about absolute power but usable power...

I have dropped the guys a JF automotive an email requesting a refund. We will see what they say!

tell them their delta is w@nk and power is dropping off too early. peak power is ok and because its over a wider graph it will look more juddery however not it shouldn't look as juddery as your does lol, good effort tho at least someone bit the bullet to see how they compare

Guys have been very helpful and seem to know what they are doing. They have tuned lambos and amg mercs and they run a GTD mk7 which is why I went there but there is just something about it I'm not happy with. The have a refund policy on their site so hopefully should be pretty straight forward return. Looking forward to the DTUK box!

A lot of places have tuned lambo's and merc's doesnt mean they're any good, plus when was the last time you met an intelligent lambo driver?

doesn't mean the tuning on the merc or lamb was any good either

Lol very true. 3 e-mails down and so far they are offering a fix as they think the box could be faulty? I have asked for a refund 3 times so far......hmmm

Hi I'm from JF Automotive and on the graph we didn't smooth any of it out unlike other tuning places so that is the exact power the cars giving and if you look at the original power graph its all over the place just as much as the tune so here is the graph with being smoothed like a other tuning companies do.
