Title: 1st gear rattle?

My TDI gearbox has just developed a nasty erratic rattling when pulling away in 1st gear and dissappears when changed up to 2nd etc. Car still pulls and drives well and clutch feels unchanged...is this a worn 1st gear synchromesh?

Yeah sound like it, more apparent when cold? My gti was like that but it wasn't bad enough to change the box. Aslong as its not jumping out of gear.
