Title: Lowering time
Post by: Scottymk4 on 02 June 2014, 09:49
Want to lower my car, don't want coilovers so will be going down the spring root... Question is what ones to go for and how much can I sensibly drop by as still want a descent ride. Also what else do I need to replace?

im surprised u already wrote of coilovers, but eibach springs are good had some on previous cars the drop is questionable i know some of them state 50mm but i dont think they will be near that

I've not wrote them off, just heard ride can be a bit harsh , wanting as much comfort as possible as I'm not a teenager lol

If you've written coilovers off because the ride will be harsh, I'd reconsider. The ride is harsher the lower you go so if it's a sensible drop they might not be that bad.I'm going to lower my mk4 but I've looked at springs and they start at £50, a decent set will cost you the same as some budget coil overs, and I bet you'll be disappointed with the height. At least with coil overs you can play about with it after. Just my opinion having done both.

don't forget the lowering amount stated by most manufacturers is from the standard ride height of a standard (ie poverty spec) car not the GTI
