Title: oil leak from filter sandwich plate?
Post by: Wazzzer on 31 May 2014, 23:48
Anyone had this? If so what parts are needed and how easy was it to do?

Noticed a dribble from mine today and tracked it to behind the oil filter sandwich plate so I'm guessing the gasket behind it has gone. It's due a service in the next week or so so it's an ideal opportunity to get it done

this is the gasket between housing and head which are £12

then there is a seal between housing and the oil cooler which commonly split! these are £4

I changed my oil cooler for a new one off ebay ,it had a rubber O ring on top. There is a nut you need to remove after you remove the oil filter. Remove the oil cooler and replace the O ring.  :nerd:

yeah it's the O ring Boney, not the actual housing gasket

I've found the O ring on ETKA so I'll see what the damage will be from VW tomorrow

thanks for the replies
