A friend of mine has bought a Mk4 Golf GTI turbo diesel from a dealer (behind the scenes sort of thing).
now he was told its 115bhp but it has a 6 speed box'. He thinks that in the model year it was built they may not have had 6 speed boxes on the 115bhp model and that it may in fact be a 130bhp model.
It is 2001/Y plate and has red 'DI' badging.
Can anyone tell me which one it is? ???

I've got one exactly same year and same spec, it could be a 115bhp alrite.

not too sure on ALL the diesel range, but they all vary dont go on just the badges!

It may be too old to be a 130 - if not it must be a very early one. The 115 bhp version also had 6 speeds, but not sure what the TDI badging on the back was as 'standard' on that one - red di could be 130bhp.
Best plan is look at the sticker in the spare wheel well in the boot, as this should state the engine output in kW - can't remember the conversion factor into bhp but you could compare the figure with the latest (130) figures on the VW website.
