I'm rebuilding my 16v KR. Am I correct in the location of this sensor. The brown plug one in the picture below as for some reason it won't start in the thread and there is no obvious damage to the sensor or thread

Hello, I've had 3 16v (but none at the moment) and I don't recall any sensor here, there are three identical temp senders around the coolant flange which I can see you have (although two seem knackered). It looks more like the reversing light switch so it would go on the gearbox. Does the hidden end have a ball type pressure switch on it? If it does its for the reversing lights, if it has a small hole in the end its probably an oil pressure switch of some sort but most on the 16v are the single spade type. J

Hi. Thanks for reply. It turns out It Deffo fits in there. Traced the part no and it's a coolant sensor that is related to the fuel injectors. Thread must have been damaged when head was being skimmed. Also as you say the 3 small sensors are broken. I have new ones ready to go in for them as soon as I sort the thread out.

You might have to re tap it and put a helicoil in there. That's the problem it's Ali heads. I had one of my oil pressure sensors shoot out because the thread stripped.

Going to be b!tch with the head on.
How bad is the thread?
If its not crossed and stripped you could put a plug tap down it and give it a go with some 638.

That sensor is the thermotime switch. Clean the thread inside and the thread on the switch
