Title: Broken Headlight
Post by: Stu-1.8T on 06 September 2005, 17:32
My other half came home yesterday with a smashed headlight

Has anybody had any experience changing the headlight unit on their Mk4?

VW quoted me £125.00 for the headlight (with the fog light built in) and around £75.00 labour.
I had a quick look on the net and found a company called Carlamp.com and they sell the lights for £89.50 so I was wondering how hard it would be to fit myself? VW said that you need to remove the front bumper....is this true?

Yeah you need to remove the bumper, but its a piece of pi@s.  About 12 screws round the front arches and 7 on the front.

Will take you about 30-40 mins, you will need some torx drivers tho
