Just need to know once your yellow fuel light comes on how many miles roughly would you be able to do?
Mk4 gti 2.0
-
Should state this in the original manual that came with the car when new. Failing that I can check mine although that's no good as I'm in a 1.8t but I got 40 careful miles on red :D if that helps at all!
-
I think the light comes on with 5l (or 1 gallon) left.
So, 17 to 45 miles depending on how you are driving it.
-
Ok, my light came on today and I have to go to work and back tomorrow. It's roughly a round trip of 10 miles. Problem is I can't really fill her up till Friday. (Payday)

How many mpg based threads can you have on 1 forum?

Walk then
Your question really is like 'how long is a piece of string?'
In theory you should have approx 7 litres left so enough for about 5 miles given that you have a 2.0 and they are generally crap MPG wise
-
get a 1.4 -you will get more miles out of it and power aint much different .you could even stick your gti badge in its
grill :smug:
-
I always work on about 20 miles from when the light comes on  never tested it through to seeing how many you can get though, Id rather not pull any cr@p from the tank through
-
Exactly the number of miles it takes for the car to hicup and then spit you out by the road side.
-
i managed around 30 before I ran out ( was going to Tesco petrol station, got there and found out it was only the shop that's 24hrs not the petrol station :D )
just stick a tenners worth of fuel on a credit card or Wonga some money for one day will cost your like a quid interest...
-
easily get 20 miles out of it, when i used to run out before payday i use tesco pay at the pump with my debit card, even with shrapnel left in the account it would still let me bang 20 quid in until the funds clear the next day :smug: Hsbc
-
iv left my card at home before accidentally and filled up before I realised, all they did was took my details and said I have 24 hr to pay.
It is a criminal offence to fill up knowing you cannot pay and in no way do I condone this, however, if you "accidentally" forgot your wallet, you would have a day before you are required to pay...unless you have an arsey woman which I have before when I have forgot my wallet who made me leave my phone and driving licence before driving home to get wallet to come back and pay.... in which case your f**ked
-
Soon as I hit the light, I would say with easy driving about 50 miles at least. I have done 30 miles on the needle on 0 (past the red before) and yet to run out
-
Have done 100 miles in an SDI with the light on, another tenner, another 100 miles
Reckon I could do 120 on the motorway in the TDI in 6th.

Running with the fuel light on is daft, all the crap gets sucked up and you can knacker your fuel pump.

Actually that would be two cars I've managed it on.
Fuel light just on so will find out.
120 maybe optimistic really but 7 litres 100 miles = 64MPG. Easy in 6th.
