Title: Milltek exhaust!
Post by: MarcIV on 27 May 2014, 02:07
Hi guys,
Just a quick question.
I'm fairly new to bringing new ponys to my car, I was wondering if anybody could point me into the right direction on which exhaust to buy, I want what everyone wants, lighter exhaust, more ponys and obviously for it to sound nice!
Should I go for a cat back milltek stainless steel non-resonated 2.5 inch?
Also I'm wanting a discrete tip as my current standard one is.

Any help from you guys will be awesome! Thanks!

Milltek seems the one to go for. I'm interested in the scorpian too. Looks a quality item but no one on here seems to have one

I'm running a 3" downpipe/decat in combination with a 2.5" Milltek cat-back and I love it.

Am I in need to replace the downpipe/cat though? The milltek catback is :£383 on eBay :o is there anywhere cheaper?

They tend to be loud no matter what they are fitted to, quality wise Miltek is a lot better fit another option is to look at Jetex.

I looked at Jetex as I used to have one on the mk2. Nice and quiet.

With the rear valance, can you cut it yourself? Vw are wanting nearly £80!

Having had a miltek i would go for one of those systems well made and sound nice without being excessively loud they also have a discrete tailpipe option :afro:

From reading around it sounds like the discreet option is the one that causes the droning

Paul can you define droning a little more? Is it that it's a deeper sound?

Droning is the annoying bassy sound that you get at part throttle say driving on the motorway at a constant rev.

I suppose if the tips are facing down, the sound is resonating between the road and the car?

Yeah I'm with you now when I passed my test years ago I bought a Saxo vtr and had to get a big bore exhaust on it and it sounded great but anoying, although going through every tunnel was fun :p good old times in sh!t cars! :p
