Title: Permanent light illuminated
Post by: JoseMcGeevio on 25 May 2014, 13:46
Alright guys,

I have a mk3 8v anni,

The ABS, HANDBRAKE & only sometimes the AIRBAG lights illuminate

Any ideas what this might be?

Ive read a few things but I'm not sure,

My car only revs unto 5000 rpm then restricts any more, but if i key pop it it will rev to 6500+

Is it going into safe mode?

Any clues?!

Scan it.....

ABS light stays on when there is a sensor out
ABS and Handbrake light staying on could be ABS ecu fault
Airbag light staying on is a fault.
5k rev limit is safe mode, timing is out or hall sensor is dead, check timing

Scan it......

If ABS lighht stays on and you get fault code for left rear or front, its the ABS hydraulic pump that is broken.

And this is the problem. (VW and Volvo share the same ABS system, so the fix is the same: http://www.volvoforum.no/tips_triks/850-absmodul.htm
