Had a phone call yesterday from VW telling me my car is needed for a software update on the manual gearbox? Anyone else had this?
Its a pain as now have to remove my DTUK box but on a plus not I will get the rubbing noise coming from the steering sorted at the same time.

Nothing for me so far. Was it your dealer or VW UK that contacted you?

I've not had anything either...

Mines in next week to get one of the ambient lights in my door fixed, i've asked them to check for a software update for my R due to the hesitation in acceleration? She said there wasn't at the time of booking but we'll see on the day? Hmm...

I think it was my local dealer but not 100% sure! The women on the phone was a cockney so probably vw uk. The earliest they could fit me in was 5th of June!

Can't be too "urgent" then.

I thought the same. I will post any info I get from them when it goes in

Hi all,
My car was in the dealers the other week for the boot rattle, they also mentioned a software update which was required, mine is a manual. They made no mention of the gearbox, but did say that there was something for the parking brake...maybe the parking brake software is different between DSG and manual? When I got the car back there was a white sticker inside the bottom of the boot with a code: 45D4, I think these stickers are used when there is a fairly important update required. I remember my 1.4 160Tsi Scirocco had a similar thing.
Surely the only bit of software in a manual gearbox that might need an update is the driver
Cheers,
Phil

Not had a call, but do have a squeak rubbing from the steering, can you ask them what it is when they fix it for you please

After having a bit of a search online I found this on
http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f197/dsg-recall-mk7-just-received-letter-93014-3.html
"On 02.04.2014 VW launched action number 45D4 for 1.2 tsi and 1.4 tsi Golf 7 which is about upgrading the software in the ECU (engine management software), plus recoding and updating computers in the front doors (related to confort computers responsible for opening and closing doors and windows) and the EPB (electronic parking brakes, including dissengagement of Auto Hold); there is also some more recoding for the GTI 2.0tfsi models"
Looks like there is one big update which covers a number of bits and pieces on the Mk7.

Will do mate. I'm sure I read on here that it's something to with the covers on the springs or something

Thanks for that. Surprised more of us haven't had the call yet

I've had 4D54 done on mine. Mine is a DSG not a manual. Don't know the ins and outs of it. Told it was the parking brake.

If you mean the top shock mount ive just had that replaced and unfortunately i still have a squeak and the whining noise through the steering at low speeds, i am assuming that they are different things but thats for another thread, let me know when you can thanks
