Some of you know Ian with the Ed1 G60
He has been talking about and meaning to have his charger rebuilt for about the last 2 years.
This is what happened to it on his way home from work on friday night, gary went round and helped him take it off at the weekend I just had to get a few pic's to share with you.

Ooops. Bet he wishes he had got it done now.
-
ouch.. seen it so many times before
what size pulley was he running, and how many miles since last rebuild ?
i know mine is about due, but it'll probably only do another 200 miles or so until i take the car off the road over winter when strange things will happen under the bonnet
-
Ok i give in, you keep saying strange things are going to happen under the bonnet. Are you gonna tell us or just keep up guessing? Hamster wheel in place of the charger? With mutant strong hamsers with thighs like rambo?
-
thtas why i wont buy a G60

:lipsrsealed: (havent actually decided on a final plan yet tbh  )
by the way clair, jv's mate nick might still have a spare 'charger available if Ian needs one sharpish to get him back on the road .. assuming there was no other engine damage.
-
Ooh nasty!! Hope he gets it sorted quick, I love that car!!!
-
He has ordered a new charger form carteck
It was running a standard pully it, he was rebulit when he first got the car 4 years ago, I know he has done loads of miles on it, def got his moneys worth out of it, he uses it as a everyday driver.
Tim just seen ur PM Ian has a copy of it, I'll ask him for you
-
Opps. I saw a second hand charger on ebay going for £200. has about 1500 miles on it since last rebuild. Not sure thats the route I would take tbh.
-
Ouch!
-
can anyone else see the scurrying of the ralleye muppets to get theres rebuilt

Mines done!
-
Mines done too
And ouch  at them pics like
-
ooooch! i bet his wallet looks alot worse than the charger! not good!
-
Generally, roughly how many miles can be covered in between Rebuilds?!?
Don't fancy that happening to mine. :undecided:
-
i think it is about 25k-30k......
hopefully someone with a charger can varify this
-
I understand it is every 30K. Better safe than sorry.
-
depends on the size of your pulley (oo-er missus)
smaller pulleys work the charger harder to generate more boost
standard pulley (73mm?) = every 60k
68mm pulley = every 30k
65mm pulley = every 20-25k
there are some cars around running 50/55mm pulleys which are rebuilt every 5000 miles
-
Did'nt realise you could go that small on the pulleys?
-
yeah pulleys you can go as small as you want to risk! but as above how long do you want your charger to last!
-
for precisely a quarter mile
-
the rally prepped rallyes were allegedly capable of around 300bhp from the 8v motor (uprated internals hopefully!) with stupidly small pulleys, that'll be one new 'charger every stage then
-
i hope you get it sorted with minimal grief ian.
-
every 25-30k damnnnnnnnnnnnnn thats gotta hurt the wallet why dont you have someone in the back with a foot pump pumping air in or get a spare one or run it on a normal pully or get a 16 valve with nitros and replace the engine when it blows hell of a lot cheaper than a rebuild
-
because 65mm pulleys are so much fun
-
Darren Ian is bringing it for you to look at tomo I think
