hi guys my 1.8t has cut out on me 3 times in the last month without no warning or anything, all 3 times its been when i have been slowing down so i feel the power steering go look down and only the red battery light is showing. cracks back up no problem what so ever, also had abit of a rough idle intermitently and idling low. Code reader came back with a code for maf input low so i replaced that today as it was only a month old and under warranty.
any help would be great cheers jake

It might be your fuel pump
-
It could be a multitude of things. Mine is currently running like crap too at idle. Have you looked for any leaks in the PVC hoses under the manifold?
Also it might be worth it if you haven't, try cleaning your throttle body?
Failing that what is you N75 like? Any perished/ broken wires?
-
Had a good a look as i can under inlet cant see anything though, not got vagcom so i cant do the throttle body cause i cant realign it :/ also n75 is that boost control valve ?
Fault code 16486 is back again today even with new maf on
-
Yeah the n75 is the boost control valve up by the maf/ tip
The throttle body will realign itself after so many miles but obviously just be careful when cleaning ie. don't push the butterfly valve.
If you leave the tb connected and turn the ignition one click, leave something on the accelerator and it will open the butterfly valve to get both sides. Much easier/ better clean to actually take it off the mani though.
-
All wires around n75 seem fine mate, will giv tb cleaning ago if the weather holds out tonight and see what difference that makes cheers
-
Have you rolled to a stop and then it just cut out like you've turned the engine off? this happened to me recently and it was the crankshaft sensor - its in the block to the right of the oil filter
-
Car cut out while i was rolling would the crank sensor throw up a fault code ?

The AUQ TB won't realign itself, it needs resetting with vagcom.

I thought so, know anybody with vagcom in the north west that be willing to help me out for some cash ?

My bad, I thought that the DBW cars did realign.

Been told to try replacing camshaft sensor and crank angle sensor this a good idea ?

Alright so been told loads of different things regarding my fault code 16486. Took it garage they couldnt find any leaks etc and with the problem being intermitent they reckon its down to maf(recently replaced for bosch new) or the wiring to the maf. Before i take it an auto electrician could anybody give me any advice or help ?
Gonna replace the thermostat tonight as my cars rarely been gettin to 90 could this be related ? Would like to do a throttle body clean but i dont have vagcom
Cheers jake

MY 1.8t did this and i found it to be the DV.
-
What the standard dv was failing or a forge 007 ? Running sweet again anyways but i clean the 007 out and relube it every few months anyway
-
at the time it was a cheap one
