Title: golf mk2 16v rolling shell (drive shafts in or out?)
Post by: Shivas Regal on 21 May 2014, 08:08
Hi guys just stripping my mk2 ready for body shop. Want to be able to transport car easily. When removing engine and gearbox do I have to leave the driveshafts in at the hub end for it to 'roll'

If I dont need driveshafts in  I was thinking I could remove shafts from hub end only and lift engine, gearbox, driveshafts out together?

Thanks in advance

Shiv

If you want the front wheels to stay on, you will need the outer CV joints in place and the hub nut on!

you can move them without driveshafts, but it's a lot harder to push around. Best cable tie them out of the way to the brake lines or something.

Leave the driveshafts in but tie them out of the way.

Thanks guys...so the consensus is to remove driveshafts fro gearbox...hall engine and gearbox out then cable tie driveshafts out of the way?

Yes that will be fine
