I have a mk4 1.9 tdi and have noticed an oil leak from the top of the engine. From inspection I found that the pressure regulating valve breather hose was only partially on and that there appeared to be a lot of oil around the EGR valve. Pushed the pipe back on and cleaned all the oil away and went for a test drive. Oil is coming out of a hole underneath the EGR valve. The other point of note was that the hose had quite a lot of oil inside the pipe.
My questions are:-
1/ Is it normal for oil to be drawn up through the hose from the rocker cover.
2/ Any ideas why the pipe was half off.
3/Should oil be coming out of the bottom of the EGR valve.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
