If I ever start doing high mileage again I hope they make this into a reality but I hold my breath, a twin turbo diesel has been doing the rumour mill since the pd170's were launched

Definitely needs 4WD if this were to happen, initial traction on the GTD is the achilles heel - just look at the 0-62 time the A3 with the GTD engine has when you add quattro (6.8s).
I'll take this with a pinch of salt, twin scroll in a Golf has been rumoured for at least 5 years.

It would have to be a GTD R as you will just need that 4 WD. But pretty sure there is a good market for a GTD R
Having parked 2 cars down from a 3 Door Red R yesterday I was actually a little underwhelmed with the looks, think my GTD looked and stood out much more. Think the blue for the R is the colour that makes it stand out more.
