Title: BW 24 Club
Post by: wardtowers on 16 May 2014, 12:04
Just joined as I have had my build week confirmed as BW24 (starting 08/06/2014)

It was only ordered on 02/06/2014 and having read some of the stories on here about waiting I feel quite lucky!

Anyone else with me on BW24?

GTI?

Ordered my R on 18/4/14 and it's BW21

BW24 finally confirmed this morning 10 weeks after ordering in early March.

Estimated BW was as low as BW16 and has moved back a week every week for the past 8 weeks just before it was likely to confirm. Incredibly frustrating especially as I have seen many other cars ordered later on here be built sooner. The dealer and VW weren’t forthcoming with reasons for this and just blamed the factory; a genuine reason would have been nice. I wouldn’t be surprised if my build slot was re-assigned to someone though not sure if that ever happens.

God help the dealer if they make a hash of the PDI as I will be even more unhappy with them. Though I can’t fault the pleasantness (is that a word?) of their corporate staff.

Yep, was originally given BW 26 but tracker now says BW 24, two weeks early is a big thing when you are going to pop with excitement haha

GTI?

Ordered my R on 18/4/14 and it's BW21

GTD with DSG, think they were taking the longest out of all of them..?

I am also this build week (there is another thread but it's fairly empty, not sure if it's worth merging the two? Mods??)

Had an email from the guy in charge of our company cars as mine is in BW24 he says!

He ordered it on 11th April and stated a 3 month lead time, so if it is in that build week looks like I will receive it around mid July so a 13 week lead time, not bad at all.

My spec is:

Golf GTD Carbon Grey
5 door
Nav upgrade (not pro)
Keyless
Rear camera
Winter pack

As I am also in Chesterfield, will keep an eye out for you. The better half drives a Tornado Red GTi PP on a 14 plate.

Title: Re: BW 24 Club

I think it's updating now, because I get the unavailable message. Amyway the tracker is not really reliable or they've got a week delay at the factory as I was confirmed bw23 and my car is being built this week which means I am actually wk 24.

Strange thing though that some bw23 and bw24 have been dispatched from the factory at the same time or with 1 day delay between them.

Have you found out who the supplying dealer is? I circumvented our lot who are hopeless (their system is showing the car was due to be delivered on the 16th May!) by finding out the supplying dealer and getting updates from them.

I got a text this morning re-confirming my build week then this afternoon it jumped to ‘In Transit’.

I honestly think the tracker means nothing,I'm still at step 3- my build week confirmed as 8/6/14 , no emails, texts or anything...spoke to my dealer, he says the car is built and should be ready to collect in 2-3 weeks, maybe my car is getting delivered by air.. i doubt anybody should gets their hopes up until they see their car in the flesh so to speak

I do have a good idea as to who the supplying dealer is, however I don't want to be stepping on any toes or upsetting anyone by going to the dealer direct! How did you approach it?

We use a 3rd party fleet services company to source our cars - I think they then put orders out for dealer groups to bid on. They probably have 1000+ cars go through them each year so it isn’t particularly personal and our usual point of contact is a help desk not linked to the sales side so I just asked who was supplying as I wanted to ensure delivery was by truck and they told me

Mine is still showing as stage 3 on the tracker

Also ordered through a lease company but got the order number from the supplying dealer when they rang to confirm the spec.
Lease company updates are worse than the tracker as they sent me one last Sunday saying it was still scheduled for delivery in September...

I think 5b is at Emden waiting or being loaded, 5c I think is on its way to the UK.

Sorry, didn't mean to rain on your parade

On the plus side it seems some BW23 cars are ready to be collected by next week
Title: Re: BW 24 Club
Post by: GeoBog on 18 June 2014, 23:08
5a - in transit: left factory (on a train to Emden port)
5b - in transit: shipping (at Emden port, awaiting a ship or being loaded onto a ship)
5c - in transit: near the UK (on a ship that's underway to Grimsby/Sheerness)

Some bw 23 are collecting this friday, some bw 23 are collecting next week and some bw23 like me are still in transit.

Do you actually get a text message on your phone which states: 5b? What is your tracker showing when you get the text? Mine only shows In transit and I haven't received any text message since it jumped from stage 4 to 5.

Yes I got a text saying it had gone to 5a on the 15th and tracker stated 4 weeks on avg from now, then 3 days later 5b (18th) and tracker stated 3 weeks on avg from now.
It actually says "...has progressed to stage 5b of 7 (in transit: shipping)."
It has updated 3 times on a Sunday at about 8.30am so here is hoping this Sunday is no different.

Just spoken to the dealer to organise delivery of my car thinking 2 weeks to sort it and PDI it would be ample and they think the whole process could take 3 weeks! It should arrive with them latest next Monday, a week from there to book in for and complete a PDI and they don’t request the tax disc until they have completed the PDI which can take 4 days from DVLA. Only then will they arrange for it to be transported - so I am now looking at 3rd week in July to get the car.

Am I being spun a load of rubbish or have any of you been told similar?

Only bonus is I have been given a reg number.

Your being spun a line in that the dealer will apply for the tax disc but they don't wait on it. You drive out the garage without the disc and it gets delivered to you at home.

I quite like my Passat company car - 2.0Tdi Sport Estate in DBP with pano roof, black leather, winter pack and some black and silver 18s, however it does feel an older model than the Golf and i do take the Mrs GTi in preference whenever I can.....

Its arrived.

Its f**king fantastic... blown away by it. The build quality is superb, people are drooling over it at work. I am actually a bit embarrassed about it being so good. Questioning why I deserve it. You will love it when you get it.

I keep going to look out the window at it!

I have never had a new car, arrived with 6 miles on, guy was really nice who delivered it. took it for a drive and trippled the mileage!!! I was terrified about everything being near it, and other cars, people etc. It certainly turned heads. What a lovely motor, so happy and lucky!!!

A pic for you to drool over, wanted the DRLs on while taking a pic, it was so sunny so not very good picture:

It's actually carbon steel grey. But does look black in that light. It's sparkles in the light.

Apologies. I should have read some of your other posts then I would have known. Feel a bit of an idiot now. If I am honest I would have liked carbon grey myself but I am stretching my budget(salary sacrifice car)as it is so I could only go for flat black with no options but I am sure I will be more than happy. I may even keep it at the end of the agreement.

Very nice, I went in to both Meadowhead (who had a very nice white GTi in the showroom) and Sheepbridge (who had nothing interesting anywhere on site!) but they didnt seem that bothered about selling me anything.... so I bought a stock car from Grimsby instead!

Tornado Red rules! I might be between Chesterfield and Beighton on Saturday so will keep my eyes peeled..

Meadowhead couldn't get anywhere near a drive the deal price.  Nearly gave up for he day but popped down to sheepbridge and after a long 'discussion' they got close enough to drivethedeal.  Been really happy with them, especially when going through a redundancy round at work. It has been a long wait if almost 4 months for me, so a lot can change in that time.

I'll be even happier if they can do the handover on Saturday though :D

PS
I'm at South Anston and commute to Chesterfield, will keep my eyes peeled too. :)

Did you collect from Sheepbridge?

Meadowhead couldn't get anywhere near a drive the deal price.  Nearly gave up for he day but popped down to sheepbridge and after a long 'discussion' they got close enough to drivethedeal.  Been really happy with them, especially when going through a redundancy round at work. It has been a long wait if almost 4 months for me, so a lot can change in that time.

I'll be even happier if they can do the handover on Saturday though :D

If you see it around it will be the better half driving normally - numberplate will have her name on (SAL) after the weekend...

Hope you get handover sorted for Saturday!

Ian

Well here it is, had to endure all day in the office before I could go and give it a good drive, so good to be back with some power under the bonnet!

How did you post your pic Wardtowers? I tried to copy and paste and it just put in a link to the file on my computer  :undecided: I get a bit confused by this photo malarkey.

Photobucket is the easiest, when you upload the photo there you can get a link to it which you then paste here.
