Do you need to remove steering wheel to take dash board out?
-
I did and it's an easy job to remove the wheel (I don't think you have the space to remove the dash without? I always planned on taking the wheel off so never found out myself)
-
Air bag puts me off!
Or is it a simple job to remove airbag and wheel?
-
It is simple, just ensure you disconnect the battery a good 30 minute before removing the bag. My bag just unclipped (there's 2 tabs on the rear of the wheel that need depressing) and the bag comes out. just be-careful with the wires that simply unplug and then it's same as removing a normal wheel

Its held on with two 5mm allen bolts from the rear

your right (my vr had a polo wheel fitted that has tabs not bolts)

Nice one! Cheers

You don't actually need to take the wheel off. I never did when I swapped out my interior but fcuk me was it a lot harder!

So with wheel off is it a straight forward job removing dash?

Yeah, I believe there is two 8mm or 10mm bolts behind the scuttle panel too? if I remember correctly..

From what I gather you need to disconnect wipers?

remove the wipers in order to remove the scuttle tray, then there should be two 8mm or 10mm bolts on the drivers side withing the area the scuttle tray was covering
