Right, I have a slight snag. My mate fitted a whole new set of disks an pads for me, done the whole car. And in the process, I now have the front drivers disk feeling as tho it is Binding. Now there is actually no reason for it to be doing this an my mate has no idea what it could be as he thinks it could only be a warped disk. An the only way to test that is to have a spare disk. At the moment I am strapped for cash an cannot just go an buy one for the fun of it, then find out that is not the issue. Because once you have used them that is it, ya can't really send them back.
But yeah, the symptom. It isn't really noticeable until I go over 40mph. Once I'm going over, it basically feels asif the break itself is gripping too hard when I go to use the break. But when I'm doing anything around 40/30 you can't really notice it whatsoever.
Any advice welcome please. An feel free to PM me if you think you may know my Issue?

So you're saying that when you go to use the brakes, the brakes are working too well?

Sticky caliper that used to work in the range it was in, but now the pistons are sitting back on new pads and disks they are sticky.
This causes the pad and disk to remain hot while the other side cools down.
That, in turn, causes grab when you apply the brakes, It is gone in a split second as the other disk heats up.
In my old A4 this was OK in the dry but would threaten you with a lane change at motorway speeds in the wet. Below 40 it was hardly noticeable.
The cure is to refurbish or replace the affected caliper (usually nearside front).

Thanks mate, someone understood what I was aiming at! My mate wasn't sure if it was a front mount or not.
By the way the rest of you, I know nothing about cars. So you saying "what am I getting at" is pretty pointless. I clearly stated what my issue was, an asked for some advice or help. Not people sitting there talking like I'm some idiot. It's comments that like that put people off using these poxy forums because you make people feel damn stupid for asking a question, rather then running too a garage an spending an arm and a leg to get something rectified.

No problem. I hope I got it right for you.
Take it easy with the rest of the posts here. I didn't see anyone implying you were an idot or anything personal. Perhaps a bit of tongue in cheek and banter type replies, but that is forum life. Try looking at a Corsa forum. Pick the right one and you will see what a poxy forum looks like

Yarp, the part of the brake piston that used to project from the caliper body, when you had thinner disks and pads. Is now the part of the piston working against the brake seals and could be sticking due to dirt or pitting on the piston. It could also be sticky/sh!tty slide pins on a sliding caliper.

Easy way to find the fault is jack a wheel up one at a time and spin it by hand to see if its binding. Its a common problem on mk4. Starter motors, wipers brakes and horn ect..........

That wouldn't help sadly mate, only really happens when over 40mph. So would be abit hard spinning that wheel 40mph lol

The drag of the binding caliper might only be apparent over 40mph when it's got the inertia of a 1250kg Golf pushing it along. Try moving it with just your arm and you might spot it a bit easier.

Taking it to the garage now. Will be sorted regardless lol. Cheers guys.
