Hey guys, as some know i have drived into the world of no money for petrol and got myself an R32 and i love it. Its going into euro Performance today for a service costing over £400!!
Anyway this has got me in a tiny pickle as now i have to get my gti sold, currently i have it in the usual places, for sale section on here on ukm4, gumtree and all over Facebook. I am not getting much interest and the interest i am getting is stupid.
I am now considering ebay, piston heads and auto trader but wont come cheap putting it on these sites
I suppose what i am asking here is do any of you have experience selling motors and would you advise using the above or have any tips for me? I really dont wont to break the gti as so much has been spent on her.
Thanks in advance :)

Be realistic with your price. Look at cars on Autortrader etc and price your car accordingly
Equally put it back to standard if you can. You increase your chances of finding a buyer that way. Plus you will probably make more money by selling off stuff like your wheels etc

supply and demand, and price. Yours is over priced because of the sentiment and wanting the money for mods back which sadly does not happen, unless you drop very lucky. You need to ditch the sentiment and strip it back to standard as much as possible. You'll get more money in long run. It helps if youve saved the standard parts youve taken off if you have the storage space.

its over priced for a start
you can bang on about how youve spent £1000s of pounds on consumables etc....but they are consumables unfortunately, general wear and tear and servicing items, and although theyve all been done it does not mean the car is worth massively over market value
youd be better off selling your mods and then selling a very nice tidy standard car, youll most likely get more money that way too. as your average person would pay a good amount for a tidy mk4
and as for where to sell it, eBay is your best bet in my opinion. and its not that expensive it costs £15 for a classified add for a month

Not a chance you will sell it for what your asking, better bet is to return it to standard.
What you could do with selling the parts is ask for standard parts against them in part ex that worked for me in the past.

Hell of an echo in here

Sorry to say this, but even your revised price is over the odds.
my car is simelar standard, and im debating between chasing big power and selling and buying a porsche now, if i was to sell up id be selling the golf for around 2k.
really is a buyers market out there.
if you have space and time to get it back to standard then your in with a chance of getting 3k total for selling all the bits and the car, but by the time youv taken all the effort to remove everything then spend proberbly 2 or 3 months selling everything and posting everything and still proberbly be left over with a few bits and bobs... up to you whether you think its worth the effort.

If you have got the space and time it will get you the most money.

Sell the wheels on their own, stick on some boggos and i sure that will see you as close as doesn't make a difference 3k
