Title: Mk 6 GTI owners wanted for magazine feature
Post by: NBirkitt on 11 May 2014, 20:59

Just starting work on our annual GTI Special issue of Volkswagen Driver magazine, for publication before GTI International and I'm looking for a few Mk 6 GTI ( or R ) owners who'd like to write a firsthand report about their own GTI + supply a few good digital pics that we can make into a mini-article (or maybe even a major article..?)

Don't have to be radically modded or show cars, daily drivers are just as welcome :-)

For more info, please email me back asap with a bit of basic info about / sample pic of your car to: Neil.Birkitt@autometrix.co.uk

I look forward to hearing from you :-)

Mine's just a boring stock daily driver but it'd be rude not to........emailed you

Btw I'm still waiting for my May issue of VW driver to arrive.  Is it delayed?

The May issue was out weeks ago. Maybe your subscription has run out? They don't always let us know when it's time to renew. Give Sally a ring.

No, in fact it's a recent new subscription and I got the April issue ok.  I've subscribed to the online version for ages, but decided to also subscribe to the paper version as you get it earlier (usually) and I like to have the actual magazine.  I have emailed already so expect it'll get send out  soon.  In the meantime I'll just read it electronically.

I would consider mine fairly tuned for a daily driver, and have a good knowledge of aftermarkets parts, just dont know if I could write a full review

Go for it Ross.  Your mod update threads read fine so I'm sure you can pull together some text for this.

I did my write up this morning and now just sorting some pics.

I've done it a couple of times for my Mk2. It need only be a couple of hundred words with a few nice pictures, if that's all you want to do. What I would say is read it over and over again, then get someone else to read it before you send it.

I did one for Readers Rides when they started doing that feature, but got a bit carried away. I wrote over 6000 words, which Neil told me would fill 6 pages in text alone.

I did it and I'm no author, it was great seeing my car in print even if it was my own offering.

As Andy says, it is worth doing it. I've put forward my R again as it has moved on a bit since last time.
