Title: Sticky Throttle
Post by: Chief1337 on 11 May 2014, 17:02
Hi All,

A 'stick' point has developed on my throttle pedal. Between 3/4 throttle and full throttle (foot the the floor) it 'sticks' (not smooth all the way down). Has anyone else had this?

Will book in at the dealers as soon as I can and keep you all posted.

Are you sure you aren't hitting the kick down switch at the end of travel.

There is a point where there will be resistance on the DSG model.  Kickdown....

Its normal on a manual car too, I'm. not much of a fan but its there to override the speed limiter.   rtfm :)

Theclicky bit is at about 90% of the travel for both DSG and manual. If you pus into the clicky zone, the car will respond like it's in Sport mode, even if you're in Eco and need to put your foot down.

I don't seem to have that clicky "thing-a-ma-jiggy" in mine although I previously had a 3 and 5 series BMW that did that around 3/4th of full throttle. But I always assumed it only occurred in cars that have flat pedals that are connected from the bottom rather than from the top. It was a pain though and it used to get on my nerves most of the time especially on a long trip where you just gently and effortlessly push the throttle and when you try to give it more power, that resistance makes you give out that much more effort lol. If it turns out to be normal and it annoys you, surely there's a way to get rid of it. I didn't bother much back then so I wouldn't really know.

Haha - So this is normal? I've never noticed it before (done about 5k miles).

I'm officially going crazy! Thanks all! :-)

You clearly haven't been pushing the car hard enough then! :D

Yes it stops then you push it down that last bit for kick down. In DSG it drops the car 3 cogs from 5th to 2nd, Haha!
