Title: How best to use Gtechniq C2v3 liquid crystal
Post by: kC99 on 09 May 2014, 13:17
Hi, has anyone got any handy hints on how to best use Gtechniq C2v3 liquid crystal?

I pick up my brand new Mk7 GTD (tornado red) on Monday, but when I practiced applying this to my present car it just didn't look good.

Thanks

Hi congrats on the new car,

What was the problem you had with the finish? How are you applying it at the the min?

Personally I use C2v3 over the top of wax to improve durability and hydrophobic properties. I spray it on to a clean microfiber (roughly 3 squirts for a panel of say door size) and then apply it with that making sure to cover the whole panel. Then I immediately buff off with another microfiber cloth, taking probably 4 times as long buffing than applying.

Also some application advice here if you want another method to try:

My GTi is Tornado Red and I haven't had any problems with the finish after C2v3 yet. It's probably one of my favourite products as it's so quick to apply and lasts really well.

Thanks for the tips Seabrook132 - I'd been spraying it directly on the paintwork and then wiping off almost straight away, which gave a horrid mottled finish!

No problem mate, I think applying it with something is definitely the way to go

Most of these products go on better to cool paintwork too
