Hi Luke, congrats on the new motor!

Not sure how clued up you are on safe washing practices and such but polished bliss has some great articles here about washing practices and decontamination etc http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/car-care-advice.html (http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/car-care-advice.html)

Autoglym stuff is generally good and even though its a new car it'll be worth using the clay and decontaminating the car as it will have collected contaminants on its way to you. I would make the most of the fact that its a new car and give it a good wash and decontamination and then make sure to protect it well using a decent wax or sealant. For me protection is the important part here and this will make it much easier to maintain.

Not sure if you have a machine polisher or have used one before? Sometimes dealer preps aren't the greatest so some defects and swirls may already be present when you pick it up. If you want perfection then asking the dealer not to prep the car and then correcting whatever's there, or just correcting the dealer prep after they've done it will make the car swirl free but its up to how much this bothers you i guess. I know my car has many swirls at the min but I don't machine polish and its something i can live with for now until i get a polisher and practice a bit. As long as the car is well protected then I'm happy.

Never owned a white car myself so don't know much in the way of specific products. I know that Dodo juice do a wax called diamond white specifically for light cars so maybe worth a look? Maybe someone else can give better advice here?

Most of all mate enjoy your new car!

As Dan says, Dodo Juice Diamond White wax gets good reviews.  Also Poorboys White Diamond Glaze is supposed to be good stuff.  Not used it myself as I'm a black car fanatic but its dark counterpart Black Hole glaze gives great results, so I would imagine the white stuff would give good results too.

Forum member Ginge35Edition would be a good man to ask, he's the white car detailing meister.  I'm sure he'd be happy to make some recommendations if you ask.  Below is a very summarised detailing routine

Snow foam
Wheels (wheel cleaner)
2 Bucket wash and rinse
Decontamination phase- Iron remover such as IronX and Tar remover such as Tardis
Wash
Clay
Polish (DA or hand)
Seal/glaze/wax - can be all or just some of these but wax always last stage
Glass clean
Interior clean

Thanks for the helps guys much appreciated!
Being delivered on Thursday.. Really can't wait as I'm driving around in a 1.2 corsa!
Been looking at a few website that have been suggested and think I'll mix the autoglym stuff with a few other stuff like the foam!

Thanks a lot guys again!
