Hi there,
I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem that has appeared on our Gti overnight.
As you drive off as normal the door autolocking activates as it should however every time you then drop below the activation speed then accelerate again the door locks click again.
They're just repeatedly trying to lock again despite still being locked from the first activation.
It becomes fairly annoying around the town to the point that I've disabled it.
I'm guessing its some kind of sensor/switch issue but wondering if anyone else has had it and knows of a possible fix/reset or is it looking like a trip to the dealers.
Any opinions appreciated.

Its a safey feature is it not that can be turned off in the settings menu. Door locks when you drive off and reach 5-10mph it then unlocks when you stop and then relocks on driving off. Im sure you can turn it off in the settings.

I think you misunderstand the OP. He has the auto-locking working, but it's trying to lock itself again anytime the car drops below 10mph. That definitely shouldn't happen. When this feature is enabled, the car locks once and doesn't attempt locking again unless you've manually unlocked the doors while on the move. They auto-unlock then once you turn off the engine I think.
So it does sound like you have a problem alright, best to get the dealers to look at it.

No mate I didn't misunderstand. This used to be a feature where when you came to a standstill the auto lock feature unlocked itself (a bit like taxis do now). It sounds like the doors are trying to unlock rather than lock again.

I have the feature enabled. When I drive off and exceed ~10mph, the doors lock. They don't unlock again until I manually pull on the interior door lever after I've stopped the car... or if for some reason if I pressed the unlock button on the door before opening the doors. They stay locked until I or a passenger manually intervenes, so once I hear the door locks "click" at the start of the trip, I don't hear them again until I'm getting out of the car.
In other words, I don't have the problem that the OP describes - if I understand correctly, his doors go into an endless cycle of trying to lock/unlock on the same journey without him doing anything other than slowing down below 10mph! This shouldn't happen.

Mine does as yours does Joe but I did have a jetta and a golf that did the auto unlock thing when I stopped. It had to be turned off in vcds.

Thanks for your replies.
I don't think that the doors are trying to unlock themselves as mcmaddy suggests as each time I slow to a stop nothing happens. Its only when I accelerate beyond 10mph again that you hear the locks clicking away.
Probably a software glitch somewhere so a trip to the dealers it is.

Just an update for this issue.
Car went into dealer this morning after wife discovered that the drivers door wasn't actually locking at all.Tthe other 3 doors were fine.
Diagnosed as a faulty drivers door latch and part on order.
Hopefully this will cure it and the car will return to being problem free!!
