Title: Seatbelt buckle causing chime!
Post by: Pld118 on 05 May 2014, 18:31
This is driving us nuts.

Wife's car and I don't drive it so much.  When she drives the car, no chime no warning light.  On the less frequent occasions when I drive the car with the seat belt on, chime chime chime.

I'm about 13 stone which is 3 stone heavier than her.

Twice the car has been to the dealership about the issue, the last time it was returned last week and they said they replaced the seatbelt buckle which had cured the problem.  I thought they would change the sensors though?

The problem will only stop when the car is in motion and the chime will only go off, if - after it starts, I push my hand between the seat and the plugged in seatbelt buckle and push the buckle away from the seat bolster and towards the centre console.

Obviously it will be going back in but has anybody else experienced this please?

Thanks.

Are you leaving your hand bag on the passenger seat?

Just to be clear, you're not talking about the vacant passenger seat belt chiming, which can be caused by heavy objects on seat.  It's only the driver's seatbelt chime continuing to ping after you (only you) have buckled up?

It's the drivers seat. No handbags or doubt that it's anything but the driver's seat.

Seat Belt Chime/Reminder

Now I never drive without a seat belt but there are a couple of occasions when the beeping becomes annoying. When I go to the supermarket I take a bag of bottles/jars for the bottle bank. I drop them in the bins and get back in to drive and find a parking space and it keeps on bleeping away. When I drop off my drinking buddy here unclips his belt has we are coming up to his house which is only 30 yards but it bleeps away again.

Select Coding - Long Coding

Continue with arrow down on keyboard until Byte 1 is showing then untick Bit 1

Then back to the main window and click the Do-It button, a message coding accepted will show. Its the bleep I wanted to disable but this does both the bleep and the warning light.

Now any long coding you change is saved to \Ross-Tech\VCDS\Debug\CodingLog.TXT so at least you have a file with any coding changes you have made so you can change the numbers back if need be?

e.g. Seat belt

Driver's seat belt buckle replaced as apparently some faulty connection within the existing buckle.  Not yet confirmed for myself that the problem is eradicated but am told that was definitely the problem.
