Most good insurance policies will include cap insurance for year one on a brand new car. If you want 3 years you will need a separate policy.

Frank Pickles are excellent for GAP.

If buying replacement cover make sure it gives you the cash with no stipulations what to buy. After 3 years you may not want exactly the same car again so best with cash to make your own choice.

+1 - These guys are who mine are with. I'm told they are the only UK underwriters of the GAP cover? I've gone for complete Replacement Plus cover that will pay for a like for like spec replacement over 4 years.

Well worth it for peace of mind.

Thanks for the info on Gap insurance - my dealer has offered this to me at £299 for 3 years and ala can provide it for 5 years for £301.

On thier website there's a space for a discount code - I don't suppose anyone knows what this is?

Thats what the 2 codes above are ffrank 10% off. There was a 15% off code about but it doesn't seem to work.

I couldn't see a place to pop the code in.  Is it on the final payment page ?

Don't forget "topcashback" or "quidco" as well for another 10%

No its on the page you put the figures for the car in, with how long the duration is.

First one didn't work for me, second one gave 7% off, money10 gave 10% off. That's as of today anyway.

Lol, was just lucky with that find mate. Found a Money7 which was 7% so tried Money10 for the crack! (Money15 was a bridge too far.)

I have saved £275 using ALA compared to my dealer to get my GAP insurance! Don't let the dealer con you with their prices

That's some saving.  VW GAP is a total rip off.  They quoted me (unsolicited) £299 for 'return to invoice' policy which is the lesser policy.  ALA GAP cost me £180 for Replacement Vehicle Plus policy.

I was offered staff discount  £325 for 3 year policy - down from £649 apparently

Got 4 year Gap plus for couple of pounds over £200

Interestingly when I tried to change my regular insurance with LV they wouldn't cover a GTI without having a tracker fitted which wasn't going to happen any time soon so had to cancel policy - tracker wasn't an issue with M&S although I did notice an absence of some of the usual big insurance names in the quotes
