Title: Golf GTI Bumper - New
Post by: CM690 on 01 May 2014, 09:09
Hey,

Looking at buying a 2.0 GT TDI in red, but I'm torn between the MK5 Golf and the Audi A3 8P, the only thing that will sway me is having GTI styling on the Golf, so I'm curious as to how much a GTI bumper, grill etc is (not headlights) from VW themselves? I've seen loads on eBay of course, but I don't want a replica because I want a good nice fit.

Thanks guys!

A few hundred quid is the answer I would guess. The bumper itself from the dealer would come in primer so would save a lot of prep over buying a used unit.

Your best bet it to get a wanted advert out on this forum, and others if you're on them (plenty of good UK Volkswagen sites). Also keep an eye on eBay once a week for a good, genuine unit popping up for sale.

I kept my eye on eBay when looking for my rear R32 bumper, picked up a genuine unit for £100 cheaper than dealers. Patience is a virtue... Good luck with sourcing your parts mate, you won't regret it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! yeah I've been scanning ebay since saturday looking for a few but they're generally not in great condition and are anything between £50 (seen better days) - £350.

I pick my GT TDI up tomorrow afternoon!

Try and get the part numbers and give your local VW dealer a call and get a price. Genuine parts that are new (like my R32 bumper) are uncommon.

Another solution is to search online for a VW/Audi breakers and get a quote for a bumper. There's a few dealers in the UK.
