Title: Engine Sound Actuator Bust?/Driving Mode Bust?

Since new the car has been in Sport Mode apart from a quick demo to the wife on how to swap between the settings.

Yesterday I decided to have a run in Eco to work with the petrol light on for added pressure, just to see how much I could push the MPG.

On the way back I filled it up a couple of miles from home and slipped it in to Sport for a blast down the back roads. As soon as I put my foot down I distinctly noticed a change in the engine note but it was in no way as loud and throaty as I have been use to. Its difficult to tell if the throttle response is Sport, the steering definately is, its just the sound is not.

I messed about putting it into Normal/Eco/Comfort/Individual and back to Sport but it still does not seem as loud as before.

Is there anything I may have messed with without knowing?

I know what you mean - sometimes in sport mode it just doesn't sound as throaty as I thought it has done before - I just put it down to differences in the ambient noise - sometimes it seems to sound much more sporty than others... I'd actually like to be able to turn it up a bit too from time to time!

Can't comment on throttle response..

I have done a bit of investigating with this because I have noticed it happen to mine. I think it's done to the engine temp and the fuel air mixture.  If you take apart the air duct intake at the front grill the front (cold air) is blocked and the only way in is through the engine bay. Still confused why VW have done it. I noticed if I run mine in economic or rag it for too long the engine note decreases.  Why it always sound awesome first thing in the morning. It's why I'm looking for a decent cold air intake kit. I could be completely wrong mind you :)

That sort of thing is quite normal - my ancient old mini's air intake had a bi metallic strip that directed the air flow from over the exhaust manifold when it was cold, then once warmed up, it would take it from the front...
