Title: GTI Mudflaps
Post by: hastd2 on 28 April 2014, 02:03
Am a bit confused at my dealer, when i asked if I can order a set of mudflaps for my new Gti, they said that they are not out yet!!!...then when I quized him he started to get annoyed with me as though i was saying that he was talking rubbish

So I showed him a picture of a set on the forum, and he said that cant be a VW part, then I said they were.
But the funny thing is that he has a set for his GTD, so he knows they are out there!!!..( I know they are differant from the GTi....just making a point)
He asked if i had a Performance Gti, to which I said yes...Ohh well thats why there is not a set for your car, they are a differant part number...that's when i walked away and said dont speak rubbish, the standard Gti is the same rear defuser as the Performance Gti and that should'nt make any differance....

Can anybody correct me if am in the wrong here

Cheers
Doug

Unfortunately the mudflaps aren't listed on the vw official accessory list yet so that's why they say they don't exist, my dealer said the same until I provided the part numbers (gleaned from a thread on here, search for 'mudflap'). Sorry to hear about your arsey dealer, I hope he's contrite once you've presented your evidence!

Here's the part numbers you need, I paid £162 fitted.

1 Set Mudflaps (Left and Right) - Rear - GTI   - 5GV 075 105
1 Set Mudflaps (Left and Right) - Front- GTI/GTD   - 5GV 075 116

A vw dealer is already selling them on eBay if u want to fit yourself, simple to do if you have short torx socket or right angle key and don't want to remove wheels to fit (& have the time.... ):

Good luck!
John

They are really easy to fit, I did mine in about 15 mins per wheel, they come with all the fittings required in the box

15  mins per corner is pretty good. Did you remove the wheels or not?

AM tempted to but the set on Ebay just now for £100, but dont kno how they would look on a Pure White Gti 5 door :undecided:
Would there be any guys on here with them fitted to a Pure White Gti ???

Yes used trolly jack and spider for the nuts plus guide rails to slide the wheels off and put them back on. Did have the right tools to hand but nothing special is required.

These guides - make the wheel change easy and safe
