I'm selling the Cab and want to get either a GT TDI 150 or a type r. Today I saw the perfect GT TDI 150, the only problem is that the independent dealer couldn't confirm whether it's a 130 or 150. The service book is missing but he had the print outs from VW. It had a silver GTI badge on the boot, 5 headrests, dark brown wood trim, leather and is in excellent condition. How can I tell if it's a 150? If it is what's it worth with 40k on the clock?
Thanks :undecided:

150 has a front mounted intercooler behind the bumper, 130 shares the same tiny wing mounted side intercooler as the 1.8T.. should also say on the V5 (logbook)
chip the 150 and it will thrash the pants off a type r, and look a lot better
-
Problem is I didn't notice the intercooler and it's 50 miles away. It didn't say either way on the V5. Must say I think the type r looks better but the drive of the golf combined with the economy makes it a better bet.
Anyother ideas on telling? I've read all the forums but still as unsure.
Thanks

only other way i can think of is the engine code.. 150PD is an ARL .. dont know what the 130 is, and not sure where it's stamped on the diesels, should be easily visible though (dead helpful me)
bit shocking that the garage selling it doesnt know though

150's have all red lettering on the back aswell...
-
I know I was really disappointed as it's perfect in every other way, he'd advertised it as a 150 too. Just looking at the 1.8t's on autotrader. They seem to be well priced, the 180 seems to have the performance I want. Are they any good?

to be honest, there wouldnt be a lot in it between a 150 diesel and a 180 petrol performance-wise.. until you start tinkering with them. i think the amount of miles you need to do everyday should decide that for you .. diesel hogs are still the MPG kings.

very true topher... they did a similar thing with the gti turbo i recall.
either way they are nice cars 130 or 150... but the 180bh gti? nice car remap decat and zorst hmmm fun time
-
Mine is a 1.8t, but I think if you remap a 150 PD then it will still piss on a remapped 1.8t :undecided:
Anyway, dunno if this will help, I robbed it from another forum(thanks to Tabs)

Thanks for that, will have to take another look tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's a 150 cos i'll buy it if it is. Any idea where the engine code will be?
-
Ring up the guys who are selling it, they should tell you, if not it should be on a sticker in within the spare wheel well in the boot
-
Thanks a lot for your help guys. Identified the car and it's a 150 and dealership where it's been serviced at has also confirmed. Have bought it.
