Having had my GTI for 21 months and really enjoyed driving and ownership, it came as a real shock to suffer the Timing Chain problem.
It took a month to get it resolved by VW (no charge as I had the warranty), but it has made me think a little harder if I am going to keep it 'forever'. It got me wondering who has the highest total mileage on their Mk6 GTI on this excellent forum, as I guess this is a maximum level of travel I could possibly expect in the future.
I will start off. My car has 45,000 miles to date on the clock. It is an Oct 2009 model.

Not a GTI but GTD , 68k on the clock Apr 2010.
-
Thanks.
Have you ever had any problems with your car?

Two Vancouvers replaced with white worm, EGR valve replaced at 45k due to oil leak from a seal and rusty boot struts replaced. Otherwise perfect well apart from the notchy gearbox VW just agreed with me but did nothing about it, has got worse over time although now I just don't care. Its littered with stone chips the front splitter is cracked (stone hit it) and I accidently scraped one of the wheels the other day (first time in 4 years was only mildly annoyed). Was going to buy a mk7 but decided the 16k cost of change was far too much and the mk6 has been so good. Run it into the ground springs to mind.

2009 gti, 43500 miles.

Mines may be one of the lowest
Sept 2009 just gone over 20k
-
My GT is an Jan 2010. It's just short of 34,000 miles now. It had done 19,000 miles when I bought it just over 3 years ago.

April 2010 27000 very enjoyable miles, soon to be traded in for a new mk7 gti
-

-
2.0 GT TDI 2009 with 89,000 miles
The main issue is my air-con pump has failed (still need to get this sorted ) apart from that the ususal white worm on the vancouvers but suppose that is to be expected.
-
59 plate GTi - 78000 Miles. Just had a major service (80K Service) last week and DSG oil change. Runs like a dream. Do on average about 300 miles a week and just had a run upto Scotland over Easter
Serviced every 10,000 miles, with Full VW History.
Would have saved money doing for a diesel, but GTI is just special.

Sajymundo
Have you ever had any major problems with your GTI?
And do you intend to keep it post 100k miles?

No issues at all mate and will keep it for the next 2 years at least, by which time it should be coming close to 100K. If still going strong thn will probably give it to the mrs for her school runs or something and get rid of her 1.6 MK5. The only thing that annoys me about my GTI are the stone chips on the bonnet from all the motorway miles and having the original Monza 17's. I have read alot about people having issues with their GTI's but touch wood mine has been epic since I have had it.
-
09 Plate, just clicked 65k
cheers, Chris.
-
09 plate just short of 54k
-
59 Plate 56k for me, Revised tensioner fitted at about 48k to be on the safe side,
Still loving it and still makes me smile every time, only normally keep a car a couple of years before I get bored, but this is a keeper, only thing that interests me at the mo is the R400, but will they build it ??
-
59 plate, 54k so far new timing belt tensioner, chain, new camshaft due to bearing failure, but runs sweet as a nut
-
first reg. 10/2009, just turned 75K miles, loved every single one  frequent stops at gas stations aside

Off topic but is that common on the Mk6 too then? My old Mk5 just had the same problem at 96k miles.
-

-
Bought mine new in September 2012.
